There should have been a warning sign posted at the silent meditation retreat
I sat from Dec. 27, 2003 to Jan. 4, 2004: "Watch out for falling
haiku!" Never mind that I had never really written haiku before: almost 100 of the bite-size poems fell into my head during those
eight days. I hope you enjoy
reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them!
Nature Haiku
Philosophical Haiku
Meditation Haiku
Humorous Haiku
Hike Haiku
Miscellaneous Haiku
Warning: most of these poems are haiku only in the
sense that they use a 5-7-5 syllable pattern; the majority do not follow the
usual rules and traditions of haiku. (To make matters worse, I even cheated on
syllables a few times!)
